HERTZINNO Launches a 360 g Lightweight Online Acoustic Camera for Robotic Inspection

HERTZINNO has officially launched a new generation of lightweight online acoustic camera designed for quadruped robots, inspection robots, and other autonomous industrial platforms.

The new model HZ-FA-36 significantly improves robotic integration by combining a higher-density microphone array with a much lighter and lower-power design. Compared with the previous generation, the microphone array has been upgraded from 64 to 128 channels, while the total device weight has been reduced from approximately 900 g to only 360 g.
This combination of higher acoustic sensing capability, lower weight, and lower power consumption makes the new acoustic camera especially suitable for mobile robotic inspection in power, oil and gas, manufacturing, and other industrial environments.

64 and 128 Microphones

For a robotic inspection system, detecting an abnormal sound is only the first step. The system must also determine where the sound is coming from.

Hertzinno provide 2 type of the fixed type acoustic camera for different applications, providing a stronger hardware foundation for acoustic imaging and sound source localization in complex industrial environments.

By combining acoustic array processing with a visible camera, abnormal acoustic sources can be localized and displayed directly on the live image.

This allows inspection robots to move beyond visual monitoring and gain an additional sensing capability: the ability to see sound.

From 900 g to Only 360 g

Payload is critical for quadruped robots and mobile inspection platforms.

Every additional sensor affects battery life, mobility, payload capacity, and the ability to integrate other inspection modules.

HERTZINNO has reduced the acoustic camera weight from approximately 900 g to 360 g, representing a reduction of about 60%.

The lighter design helps robot manufacturers:

  • Reduce payload on the robot head, arm, or sensor platform
  • Minimize the impact on robot balance and mobility
  • Reserve more payload capacity for thermal cameras, gas sensors, LiDAR, and other instruments
  • Improve overall energy efficiency
  • Enable longer autonomous inspection missions

For quadruped robots in particular, lightweight sensing modules can make a significant difference in overall system performance.

Low Power Consumption for Long-Term Robotic Operation

Industrial robots often operate several sensing systems at the same time, including visible cameras, thermal imaging, LiDAR, navigation modules, wireless communication, and onboard computing.

As a result, sensor power consumption directly affects the operating time of the robot.

The new HERTZINNO acoustic camera has been designed with low-power operation in mind, helping reduce the additional power and thermal load placed on the robotic platform.

This makes acoustic imaging more practical for long-duration autonomous inspection instead of only short-term manual measurements.

One Acoustic Camera, Multiple Inspection Tasks

Acoustic imaging provides robots with a sensing capability that complements visual and thermal inspection.

With different detection modes and algorithms, the HERTZINNO online acoustic camera can support multiple industrial inspection tasks.

Partial Discharge Detection

In substations and electrical facilities, acoustic imaging can help robots detect and locate abnormal acoustic emissions associated with partial discharge.

Typical applications include:

  • Switchgear
  • Transformers
  • Insulators
  • Busbars
  • High-voltage equipment

Gas Leak Detection

In oil and gas, chemical, utility, and industrial facilities, acoustic imaging can be used to locate pressurized gas leaks from:

  • Valves
  • Flanges
  • Pipelines
  • Compressors
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Process equipment

The acoustic image helps the robot quickly identify the leak location without requiring physical contact with the equipment.

Mechanical Anomaly Detection

The same acoustic sensing platform can also support the detection and localization of abnormal mechanical sounds from equipment such as:

  • Motors
  • Pumps
  • Fans
  • Bearings
  • Compressors
  • Rotating machinery

This gives robotic inspection systems another method for identifying early-stage equipment abnormalities.

Bringing Acoustic Vision to More Quadruped Robots

Quadruped robots are increasingly being deployed in substations, oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, manufacturing sites, and other industrial environments where manual inspection can be difficult, repetitive, or hazardous.

The next step is to equip these robots with more advanced sensing capabilities.

HERTZINNO is working to make acoustic imaging a practical sensing technology for autonomous inspection by making the hardware lighter, lower in power consumption, easier to integrate, and more capable.

These changes are more than just improvements in specifications. They represent another step toward integrating acoustic imaging into the next generation of autonomous industrial inspection robots.

HERTZINNO will continue working with quadruped robot manufacturers, inspection robot companies, and industrial automation partners to bring acoustic sensing into more applications across the power, oil and gas, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure industries.
